If you are planning to fly this year, you should take note of the simple and effective process before getting on board, according to RSVP.
For flights within Europe boarding usually begins approximately 30–40 minutes before the departure time on your boarding pass. Pre-boarding will commence first for customers with special assistance requirements.
The next group to be invited to board the aircraft be Priority boarding – Group 1 comprised of AerClub Silver, Platinum and Concierge members, AerSpace customers and Connecting Business Class customers.
General boarding – Group 2 is up next for customers with a 10kg carry-on bag entitlement. You your boarding pass will indicate 'Carry-on bag' to confirm your eligibity.
All remaining customers will board the aircraft in general boarding – Group 3.
Aer Lingus has advised people to ensure you arrive at your boarding gate no later than the time stated on your boarding pass.
If you have booked a transatlantic flight to or from Dublin Airport or Shannon Airport, boarding starts around 40–50 minutes before the stated departure time.
Pre-boarding will start with customers with special assistance requirements before Business Class customers in Priority boarding – Group 1. General boarding – Group 2 is made up of AerClub Silver, Platinum and Concierge members.
General boarding – Group 3 will have Economy Class customers, rear rows and all remaining customers will get on the aircraft in General boarding – Group 4.
Aer Lingus has issued some advice for anyone who has booked with them. Take note so you don't miss your flight or get landed with any unplanned fees.
- Keep an eye on the airport screens and the Aer Lingus app for boarding gate information and updates on your boarding time.
- Allow enough time to get to your gate, factoring in time for possible transfers to your boarding area, passport control checks, etc. which can vary from airport to airport.
- When you get to the gate, take a seat and relax. The boarding lanes should be kept clear so everyone can enjoy stress-free boarding. Please only join your assigned lane when your group is called.
- As you join the lane for boarding, each customer should have their own boarding pass and passport/ID document ready at the photo page for inspection by our boarding staff.
- Customers who bring a 10kg carry-on bag and are not entitled to bring it on board, will be charged a €35/£35 fee at the boarding gate. Please avoid this by dropping your bag free of charge at check in.
- If your aircraft is parked away from the terminal building, we will provide a bus to take you from the boarding gate to the aircraft.
- If, due to limited capacity in the overhead lockers, we don't have space for everyone's bags, we will put your bag into the aircraft hold free of charge and you can collect it from baggage reclaim at your destination airport.
